San Francisco Teenager Killed in Horrific Car Crash

A 16-year-old junior from Lincoln High school, Kevin San, in San Francisco, CA was killed after a speeding car hit the back of the minivan he was riding in. His mother was driving and his sister was sitting in the front passenger seat while on the way to school one morning. The 58-year-old driver of the Mercedes slammed into the back of the van while speeding. The teenager died on the scene, his mother is currently in critical condition with life threatening injuries, but his sister is expected to survive.

While authorities say that she didn’t appear to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, they declined to say if it could have been due to mechanical failure. They said that the mangled state both vehicles ended up in would make it extremely difficult to determine if a mechanical defect could have caused it. The police did ask the woman what caused her hit the minivan as well as a catering truck and parked car, but they have declined to reveal her response at this time. Chief Suhr of the San Francisco Police says that there is no excuse for the way she was driving at the time of the accident.
