Woman Killed in Highway Accident

A woman whose sports utility vehicle stalled while driving down Highway 6 was struck and killed by another driver on Monday night in Houston.

The accident occurred after 10 pm.  Her Isuzu Rodeo stalled in a moving lane of traffic.  As she was trying to get out, a Hummer struck her, and she died at the scene.  The driver of the Hummer did stop at the scene.  The woman’s name was not released, and no charges have been filed against the driver of the Hummer.

There has been a string of such fatal car accidents in Texas lately.  If you experience car trouble while on the highway, you must remember to first and foremost take care of your safety.  These accidents are particularly likely to happen at night, when visibility is poor and other drivers on the road are not as alert.

If you become stranded on the side of the road, stay in your car and call for help.  If you must exit, exit through the passenger side.  Do not assume that other drivers can see you, especially if your car has stopped on the side of the highway.  Cars, trucks, and 18 wheelers traveling at very high speeds can cause a fatal accident.
