On November 1st of this year, two construction workers were thrown from the back of a truck at a work site on State Highway 35. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), whose job it is to ensure that workers have access to safe and humane working conditions, has launched an investigation of the incident.

The accident happened, officials say, when the driver of the truck – headed northbound – was distracted. He then ran off the road, into a large dirt mound. Apparently, he was traveling at a high enough speed to launch the truck into the air.

OSHA’s investigation will conclude whether all safety procedures were being followed at the time of the accident. If it is determined that all safety procedures were being followed properly, and there was no negligence on the part of the workers, they should be awarded compensation for lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering through the construction company’s insurance.
