Early Friday, a woman suffered critical injuries when the car in which she was riding rammed into a mobile home and a tree.

According to Baytown Police, the driver, a male, and his female passenger were traveling eastbound on Cactus at Tumbleweed around 1 a.m. when their car left the roadway and struck a mobile home that was parked in a driveway.  According to the authorities, the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed when the accident took place.

Amazingly, given the circumstances underlying the accident, the driver was not hurt.   However, the passenger was critically injured when the car drove underneath the front of the mobile home, and a metal gooseneck hook ripped the roof off the car, striking the woman. The car then proceeded to hit a tree.  The critically injured woman was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
