Semi crushes family vehicle

A tragic accident occurred in Florida in the early morning hours of March 11, 2014. A family’s car crashed into the side of a semi-truck trailer. The front half of the car was crushed, killing three members of the family, while another three were rescued from the back half of the vehicle, but badly injured. The severity of the accident was due to the fact that the car was pinned underneath the trailer and then dragged along the roadway until the truck driver was able to come to a stop.

In this case, the truck driver was judged not to be at fault, but it’s a simple fact that whenever a smaller car gets involved in an accident with a semi-truck, the smaller car will take a lot more damage, whatever the cause of the accident. Even a small infraction like running a stop sign can lead to terrible consequences when several tons of fast-moving metal are involved. Such incidents are called “accidents” for a reason – they are very often simply due to small errors. But when lives are lost in a crash, those errors loom large, and sometimes legal action even needs to be taken.
